Parent-Child Communication

Since 1965, Planned Parenthood has been building healthy communities with the most sophisticated instrument in medicine: accurate information!

Our trained health educators lead interactive, culturally appropriate sessions that encourage young people to make informed decisions about their health. We train teachers, parents, professionals, and caregivers how to have honest discussions with the young people in their lives.

Planned Parenthood’s Adult Education Programs include a variety of workshops, trainings, and customizable “lunch and learn” programs that are offered in classrooms or in community settings.

Parent-Child Communication

This 90 minute course helps parents gain a greater understanding about the importance of communicating about sexual and reproductive health topics, values, and goals with their children. Parents learn about the developmental process, challenges faced by youth, and review effective strategies to improve communication. By the end of this course, parents are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, and skills necessary to communicate effectively with their children about these topics in order to promote healthy adolescent sexual development. This course is available in English and Spanish.
